Fly Nubian Queens was inspired by my love for fashion and the desire to create a brand that represents me and my African heritage. I wanted to create a line of clothing that celebrates our culture while also being stylish and comfortable.
I also wanted to create a line of clothing that would empower women of color, especially black women, to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. Fly Nubian Queens is designed with you in mind!
What are your thoughts on the current state of fashion?
I think the current state of fashion is amazing! There's so much variety and creativity available now than ever before. I love how brands are experimenting with different styles and concepts, which makes it really exciting for consumers.
What is the mission of Fly Nubian Queens?
Fly Nubian Queens is an organization that strives to empower black women through education and leadership development. The mission of Fly Nubian Queens is to provide opportunities for African American women to develop their leadership skills, network with other professionals, and gain access to resources that will help them achieve their professional goals. Additionally, the organization seeks to promote racial and cultural diversity within the African American community. By providing these opportunities, Fly Nubian Queens hopes to create a more inclusive society where all individuals can thrive.
The Fly Nubian Queen program was founded in 2001 by educator and businesswoman Monique Washington. At its inception, the program offered scholarships for African American women who were interested in pursuing a career in business or entrepreneurship. Since then, the program has expanded its reach beyond scholarship funding; today, it offers programs that focus on leadership development, networking opportunities, and access to resources.
Fly Nubian Queens believes that empowering black women is essential for creating a more equitable society. Through its programs and initiatives, Fly Nubian Queens seeks to provide opportunity for African American women so they can reach their full potential as leaders in their communities and throughout the world.
Who are the members of Fly Nubian Queens?
Fly Nubian Queens are a female vocal group from the United States. The members of Fly Nubian Queens are: Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson (drummer), Kimberly Hill (vocalist, keyboardist, and producer), and Devante "The Chosen One" Mochizuki (bassist). They formed in 1995 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Fly Nubian Queens' music is rooted in soul, funk, R&B, and gospel. Their debut album was released in 1997 and featured the singles "I Believe" and "Never Gonna Give You Up". The group's second album was released in 1999 and featured the singles "Queen of My Soul" and "If I Could Turn Back Time". In 2002, they released their third album which included the hit single "Heaven on Earth".
In 2007, Fly Nubian Queens released their fourth album entitled A Tale of Two Cities. The album featured the hit single "Good Lovin'" which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2009 they released their fifth studio album entitled Tear It Down which included the hit single "Angels."
In 2013 they released their sixth studio album called Evolution which featured guest appearances by Kanye West, John Legend, Ne-Yo, Usher, Ludacris among others. In 2017 they announced that they were working on a new studio album tentatively titled Now or Never.
